For most of us, our wardrobe begins and ends with off-the-rack retail; it's economical and convenient. Each beloved piece has been allocated a size of its own. XS, S, M, L... Each letter (or number) is a cheat sheet to fit the masses; a shortcut on the path away from the days of custom clothes. Irregardless of the actual size and shape that genetics assigned to us at birth, we rely on the racks of everyday retail. Well, I'm here to let you in on a little secret. A secret that will help you rise above the awkwardness of off-the-rack and leave you feeling confident: Tailoring.
Even the fashion novice knows tailoring has its place in the world: rips, broken zippers and formal wear likely keep your local tailor's lights on. What often gets overlooked though is its use for everyday wear. You would be AMAZED at the transformation that can be made with a little nip and tuck.

The best approach to tailoring your wardrobe (and not breaking the bank) is the start with your staple pieces. Stick to the better quality items in your arsenal. Cheap pieces have a place in our heart, but they don't last, so it's not worth it. Love a quality pair of jeans, but they don't quite sit right? Start with those. Add polished pieces as needed and before you know it, your off-the-rack collection will have you feeling like a million buck.
